Iain Foster-Todd

Ian hasn't stopped smiling sinceOne of many satisfied customers was chief fire officer Iain Foster-Todd.  He rode up from Hartlepool on his BMW R1100GS for a one-day course.

Just two hours into the course, he was so impressed that a problem with his cornering technique had been so easily sorted, he said,

"That's amazing!  That's worth the £150 alone.  I could go home now and my money has been well spent!"

Juliet Horsley

Juliet Horsley, having prised her bottom from the seat of an Enfield Bullet, displays the Newcastle Rider Training logo somewhere in the Himalayas!Hub Regional Exhibitions Manager for Tyne and Wear Museums, Juliet Horsley is the classic "born-again biker". She has a full motorcycle licence from more years ago than any lady would like to admit.  Not having ridden for some time, she sensibly came to me for some refresher training.  After a few sessions she had regained some confidence and had set her sights on a new CBR600.  I suggested that something a bit less flashy might be a better starting point.  She took my advice and bought a Honda CB500S complete with Renntec engine bars to protect against those inevitable early topples.

Returning to me to further advance her skills, she rapidly became one of the quickest riders around, despite her relatively ordinary bike.  It wasn’t long before the Renntec engine bars had to be replaced with slightly slimmer Honda items.  Juliet was throwing her bike so enthusiastically into bends that there was a disconcerting crunch each time the engine bars ground into the tarmac!

She rode with me to Donington Park for the MotoGP once.  I have a favourite route there, which avoids all the main roads.  As we got within 30 miles of the circuit the volume of bikes on the roads naturally increased and we duly made progress past the untrained majority.  On arrival Juliet asked me, totally straight-faced, “Why were all those people on big, fast bikes going so slowly?”  Simple answer, Juliet: they haven't discovered the benefits of advanced training!
